Is it easier to run on a treadmill than it is to run outside?

Yes, the treadmill is a bit easier. It’s easier because

  1. The ground moves under you rather than you moving over the ground
  2. It’s completely flat and 3) you don’t have any wind to deal with.

But that said it’s still good for you as long as you’re getting some of your runs outside. But to make the treadmill more like running outside trying lifting the elevation to .5 or 1% incline. That will make it more realistic and you’ll be able to tell the difference.

If you ‘re running 3 miles on the treadmill, try the first half mile at 0% incline, the next half mile at .5% and then go to 1% for the remainder of your run. If your treadmill doesn’t go up by half percentages just ramp up to 1% incline.
